How do you like it? I'm mostly desirous of peace of mind when I'm at home. I don't need a monitored system.

Are the components of similar quality as, say, Patriot might use?

How long to the batteries last in the wireless components?

thanx

I had one of the original systems I installed in a home years ago. Had one sensor I recall giving me some issues. Did some testing swapped battery and it was good best I can recall. There software and monitoring service at the time was fine for the price paid. The signs and stickers to go on your doors and windows are probably the best investment.

I am thinking of adding the video doorbell thing, maybe some cameras.

Thanks for the prompt response. Concerning the cameras, there has been speculation about their trustworthiness being made in China. It seems there is some speculation that the Chinese have programmed equipment headed to America for unwanted surveillance.

Don't know how accurate that info is as I also want a camera. Or two.

There used to be a FFL located in Broken Arrow who posted here a lot. He did transfers for $10. Anyway, he has an impressive video surveillance system. I wonder where he got it? And, where'd he go, anyway? I haven't seen any of his posts for a long time.

The deal with simply safe is if they find the base station they can bust it. If you are not going to have it monitored it doesn't really matter. The reason for signs and stickers is kinda like locks. Its to keep honest people honest. A kid or jackwagon looking for an easy score sees the sign and moves on the house next door with no sign.

As for hacking them that's to much work imo. Someone that has valuables worth enough that a criminal that sophisticated would want to break in probably has a much nicer security system.

As for indoor cameras. I would never trust them unless they are on a local DVR with no internet access. Wireless cameras are fine for outdoors, your porch or garage. There are things on the net all the time about Chinese cameras getting hacked. No way would I give them the ability to watch me in my home.

If I remember right, there is another thread somewhere in which someone spoke of the cameras doing tricky things to keep access to "the outside." I just don't remember how the thread was titled.

Yeah, I thought about buying an ADT sign off ebay. They wouldn't know I had simplisafe, couldn't hack the system, but they might be warned off with an ADT sign. Etc.

OK. I found the thread entitled "Hidden Security Cameras." Below is a link to where it was explained that the cameras seem to have a life of their own.

Slugslinger comment on Chinese made cameras.
Thanks. I had read something to that effect elsewhere, but am reluctant to reveal my tinfoil hat.

Cameras made in China. Check. China notorious for spying on people. Check.

I wonder where my cell phone is made?
