We used Simplisafe for *years* with no issues at all. When we moved to Oklahoma, we got a new system and immediately had issues with the base station interfering with other wireless components. Unless I had the basestation stuck in a closet far, far, away, I would get constant "interference" warnings from it every 30 seconds or so. It's a common problem and is discussed at length on the Simplisafe forum. Our current home had a prexisiting system, so I have it configured though Surety and essentially self monitor the system. If someone breaks in, I want to know that before getting home. What I don't want is the police responding 10 minutes after the crook leaves and shooting my dog(s).

As for indoor cameras. I would never trust them unless they are on a local DVR with no internet access. Wireless cameras are fine for outdoors, your porch or garage. There are things on the net all the time about Chinese cameras getting hacked. No way would I give them the ability to watch me in my home.

The bigger issue with these cameras are that they are "IoT" (internet of things) devices that you allow onto your network. The Chinese could care less about what you are doing in your home, they aren't hanging around watching you...they want on YOUR NETWORK.

You mean, "the Chinese could not care less..."

However, since your router and modem are also made in China, they could easily install a surveillance chip in those devices. If they want into your network, they don't have to do it through your camera.

We have five cats that stay inside. So the motion sensors are about worthless. We mounted the sensors 5 feet up the wall but, cat climb on everything. We have sensors on the doors that we arm at night. We also have the Arlo camera system that work very well. It alerts my cell phone and I can see what the camera sees. The cats don't trip the cameras.

Bought one and installed it. Already had an ADEMCO wireless system but it had no communication because we don't have a land line. I figured for the price of a GSM cell primary unit 3G, 4G, whatever G, they will always sunset in a few years. Simplisafe will just give you an update to your unit.

I didn't have smokes with my old unit and got 4 for the price of one ADEMCO wireless smoke.

I also have a non digital doorbell but it has Westminster chimes. Their doorbell WILL NOT work with my chimes. As soon as I install the top part of the video doorbell it starts to ring them constantly and won't stop. I tried several resistors, and a diode, after I found some solutions to the same problem for other products like RING on the net. Nothing worked. Simplisafe tech support SUCKS when it comes to the doorbell installation. I returned both of them I bought and they only reimbursed me for one. I had to prove to them I bought two and returned two. I take pictures of everything I ship for this reason.

You might try a mechanical relay if you have this problem in the future.

Most any relay should require more current than your chimes do to engage, and it would give you a more firm on/off point.

Just a thought. :drunk2:

I did try an Ice cube relay and a bridge rectifier. As Soon as it was hooked up it started chiming.
