As usual, here is the last minute update on the possibility of severe Oklahoma weather. The last time I looked at this forecast(yesterday), the highest risk level was only slight.

Our chances of being hit by lightning or having a tree blow over on us this evening are much greater than the potential of us needing the firearms we have carried everyday for the past year or so without drawing even once. Weather forecasting has a pretty good record in recent years.

IMHO, spring is official "monkey fece" season for TV station weathermen in OK. They go "monkey fece" to try to out do each other to get the big ratings for the big $. I just wished that news, weather and sports were completely removed from the ratings game and that there would be straight reporting and not the drama. I sure do miss Gary England's laid back style of just reporting the weather without the hype. Don't get me wrong, if it is stormy I still tune in the local stations, I just wish they would dial down their overactive/dramatized style of reporting the weather.

I agree they go for the ratings, but the rating I would like to see in my title is the guy on channel 5 in OKC. His title is “most accurate”.
That’s who we go to when it starts getting rough.
Typically I just monitor the mesonet live radar and watch recorded shows when the stations preempt programming.
