I fire up the PC after dinner and it says preparing windows.. I wait and wait and when I'm finally able to do my normal thing ALL my favorite tiles are gone, I had to reload them and then realize SOB, the favorites bar which had a buttload of sites saved is also gone.. Any recommendations on how to go about restoring this ? I'm NOT a tech savy kinda guy.. Nuts and bolt yes, computers and telephones NO.. Also recently got a new phone and to say I didn't like the change would be an understatement..
Look in c:\users for a folder called temp. Maybe your settings couldn’t be loaded so it started you as a temp user.
There should be a folder with your normal username also and in it should be favorites and documents etc.

Windows asked me for a user name or password and I closed it out and went to explorer, that may be where I made my mistake..
ARRRH not meeting with any success..
I feel for ya, That's a BUMMER..
Now go get a 64 GB USB Memory stick and copy all your info over to that as a backup. Do that the first of every month.
EXACTLY!! Do a start up copy and life will be easy if your computer crashes.
