I was given a Henry AR-7 .22 rifle a few years ago as a present. It’s been to the range several times and not that accurate. A week ago I was reading the warranty and it said lifetime warranty.

I went to their website and filled out the return form and they emailed me back with a UPS shipping label in PDF format. I boxed it up and sent it back to New Jersey. So, this morning I get a call from a gal at Henry Rifles and they said they were sending me a brand new rifle with two magazines. I asked why and she said that there was a problem with the receiver and they were just going to replace the whole rifle.

Hummm. I bought 2 of them for grandkids and neither is very accurate. I just assumed the design doesnt lend itself to great accuracy but they're fun to shoot. Let us know if the new one is much better I may tried get mine replaced.
As a side note I have never had anything but good experiences with Henry

It’s possible that there was a bad lot of receivers that were sent out. Yours might be in that lot. My thoughts were that the barrel being taken off and reinstalled may have affected accuracy, but from the way she talked it was a known problem but apparently not enough of a problem to issue a recall.

Got it back today. Delivered by UPS. Brand new in the box rifle with two new magazines and all the paperwork. When I took it out of the box I noticed that the receiver looked like it was made thicker and felt heavier.

The stock has changed. There are now slots inside the stock for two magazines. My old one only had one. I found that the rifle can be put back inside the stock with a magazine inserted. So, three can be carried inside the stock.

There is now a rail on top of the receiver. It’s like a Weaver scope rail, but it has slots in it like a pictinny rail. The barrel is similar to the old one. It’s a polymer material covering a rifled insert. The front sight has a bright orange blade.

If I can drag myself out of the bed in the morning, I’ll take it to the range and see how it does.

Just got back from the range. I ran 200 rounds of .22 through it. I was doing what I call trash shooting at 25 yards. Basically shooting at left over pieces of skeet, clumps of dirt, sticks and stuff like that lying on the berm.
Accuracy was a lot better than I expected. The sights were dead on. I didn’t have any malfunctions till I had shot about 170 rounds. There were several failure to feeds that I think were caused by lack of lube and dirty .22 residue.
