Anyone sold a car to a dealer?

Car Max is generally the best dealer to sell to. They are very upfront and accommodating(in regards to dealing with liens). I know quite a few people that have sold their newer good condition vehicles to them for around 80% of market value.

I don't know what kind or model car you're selling but I would not sell to a dealer, they give wholesale. I'd go right here on OSA, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace. I'm sure there are buyers on OSA with cash.

I think my elderly neighbor lady just took off to take her 2010 Acadia to Broken Arrow to sell to a dealer who gave her a quote over the phone... 41k miles.

I hope they don't shaft her, she's not very business-savvy. This is why she is in a tight spot to begin with, she has squandered her entire life savings and retirement and for some reason took out a home equity loan to renovate her whole house, and now she can't pay the payments and it is up to be auctioned off July 1. She claims it was supposed to be a reverse mortgage which would let her stay in the house as long as she was alive, and they would take care of the taxes and the insurance.

<sigh>

She talked to no one and hid it all from everyone, we only found out by seeing the auction notice in the paper. Sheesh.

Anyways, sorry, was just venting a bit. lol. So... I hope she doesn't get taken on this deal trying to sell her car to pay her taxes and stop the auction.

I hate to see big business taking advantage of the average person, often if I the right opportunity I will tell someone who is about to buy something expensive where they can buy it more reasonable. Maybe I shouldn't intervene but I'd want osmeone to advise me if I was spending too much for an item.

This woman doesn't listen to reason. She recently got taken for something like $800 on one of those Publisher's Clearinghouse scams... and everyone was already TELLING her it was a scam. She went to the bank to get the money order to send them, her banker told her it was a scam. She wouldn't believe it. So they called the police. The officer came and told her it was a scam. Then the housekeeper called us and told us she was going to get ANOTHER money order to send off AFTER she ignored them the first time. And what happened? Yeah... scammed for even more. So we called the police to come over and take a report... guess who it was? The SAME officer who told her at the bank it was a scam.

She don't listen. Now she wants to borrow my wife's truck for a month after she sells her own to pay her delinquent taxes to stop foreclosure on a house she cant pay the mortgage on anyways.

I'm about to wash my hands of the whole situation... time for her to move into senior living, but she doesn't want to give up her house.

We don't have a <rolleyes> emoji big enough...

Is this the same neighbor lady that wanted you to help her decide what gun to buy or something a while back?

Yes, it is. Luckily I dodged that bullet by never bringing it up again.

She wants to live a life that impresses her neighbors, I think... everything we have, she thinks she needs. And more. I don't know, she was always pretty well off while her husband was alive, it seems, but she has no ability to manage things on her own, apparently.

So... sorry to derail the thread. lol

I see it happening all the time, even here.
Some people just won't listen to reason.

There seems to be a lot of people that have more money than sense and they help keep those places that will take advantage of folks in business.
