11 People died on Mt. Everest so far this year. They are claiming mismanagement, black market Oxygen bottles, too many people on the summit climb causing delays in summiting and running out of Oxygen.

The dead are left where they fall. They are not carried back down.

Maybe they should use a lottery system or something to limit the number of dumbasses standing in line up there. Oh wait, I forgot, tickets to this E-Ride are very expensive and bring in lots of revenue...for somebody. Who cares about the cost in human life? Wait! I know! A Tramway! Just build an Aerial Tramway up there. That way, you could have a gift shop and maybe like a Mexican Restaurant at the base station so those waiting to ride up for the photo op have a safer way to throw away their money.

I forget who it was who asked the question and who answered it, but some guy asked some other guy who liked to climb mountains why he did it. The Mountain Climbing Guy answered: "Because it's there". No kidding. And it will still be there if you just stay your Chinese-Oxygen-Bottle-Breathing Self home too. But I do get the attraction; it's a thrill, and thrill seekers tend to like to walk on the edge. That's all well and good and I get it. For example; I used to really like jumping out of airplanes (and helicopters especially). But I would more than likely not choose a parachute and reserve that said "Made in China. Packed by Wun Hung Lo".

I think if you're following a line of people in front of you, ass to nose, with the latest of technology and gear, with guides and everything they have now..."conquering" Mt Everest has lots lots of its meaning from the early days. Yeah, people still die up there but its just not the same in my opinion.

I just dont get the appeal.
