Oh yeah. I think Mom got most of hers from buying groceries at Safeway or maybe Brannon's.

We had a big store here in town and all of us would help her fill the books so we could get something for ourselves. Funny I don't remember a single thing we ever got from there though.

When I was a teenager some of us moved the "We Give S&H Green Stamps" sign from the corner gas station down the block and placed it in front of the funeral home.

Even the local cop that asked us to move it back admitted it was pretty funny.

I have and still use a drop light bought with green stamps in the 60's. It now has an LED bulb in it and the cord has been replaced a couple times. Can't use it as an extension cord any longer, the two pronged socket is for plugs with the same size prongs and nothing new will plug in.

Funny. I knew what you were talking about just by reading the title of the thread.

EVERYBODY collected S&H green stamps back in the 70s. My parents owned a little store in Claremore when I was a kid, so we gave em out whenever people bought things. And because we were a contributing business, we got lots of stamps. Seems like we bought our very first microwave oven with em.

That was the beginning of the downfall of women...the microwave oven.

I was going to say the same thing. I forgot what my mom eventually got with them, but I know she had a crapload of books saved up. When we lived in Norman on Eisenhower RD (Robinson and the railroad tracks) I would bike to the Wrights IGA on Porter. Everytime she would yell as I was leaving "Don't forget the stamps!".
