I saw that one on police activity on YT. Yes, he is very lucky. I don't know why he holstered before the perp was in cuffs, that was a huge mistake. Second mistake was letting him get that close to him. Sadly there are so many people who will say "Why didn't they taze him first!!" Well, sorry suzy snowflake, but they guy has a deadly weapon. When that threat level is present you don't want to risk your life on something that has a high failure rate. That would be like using $2 tie downs to hold a 10 ton load down.

In my opinion the cop that ended up in the arms of the subject needs to find a new job. Like said above, the officer shouldn't have holstered up until the subject was in a more compliant state or drt. This deal could've really been bad if the officer had been shot/killed while his fellow officer was trying to save his life by shooting the subject. Hey, I'm glad this worked out the way it did but I think the officer got his self into that situation.
Certain jobs have certain risks I know. All the more reasons to minimize those risks whenever possible.

Unfortunately, some the cops will hesitate in a conflict due to potential lawsuits, loss of job, threats, fear of racist claims and they are injured or killed. It's just not enforcing the law, it's a myriad of jobs they have to do unlike yesterday's officers who walked their beats. When I was a smart 16 year old, I was pulled over for speeding and a car roared past with loud mufflers and in my youthful wisdom I said, "Why don't you go after that car?" The officer's reply was, "Be quiet or I'll take you to jail." I kept quiet and took the ticket. These days a cop would ignore such a comment because they are used to being disrespected, cursed at or talked down. In my opinion they deserve a lot of respect, we run away from a hail of bullets and they run toward the bullets.

Shove a cell phone in their face and demand to know what law they are breaking!!! Record everything, admit nothing. "I know my rights!!!!!""" Damn I'm funny!
