Thank you for posting this. It concerns me that someday they might try to place a woman in the Captain’s Seat. The competency of French Pilots is another big concern.....I just don’t believe they are capable of performing complex tasks.

There's a lady here in my home town who flies for Delta (if I remember correctly) and ALL she does is landings after the long flight to Australia. No wait, she does the take offs at LAX and the landings down under. Somebody else flies it in between the two. She has done this for MANY years. 747s last time we talked but that was before the 777 was out.

I've been on that beach a couple of times. Standing there watching an Air France 747 coming 50' over your head is frightening.
The take-off side of that same runway is the base of a mountain. When they get ready to take off, the jumbo's are towed where the tail section is over the fence for maximum distance. They lock up the brakes and get all the thrust they can from the engines to the point the tires are skidding and let it rip. As soon as they lift and have wing tip clearance they have to make a hard right to go through a gap in the mountains.
Unfortunately, several people have been killed trying to hang on to the chain link fence in the engine blast when they get thrown into the rocks on the other side of the road that runs along the beach behind them.
In the first few seconds of the video you can see where I stood, Sunset bar. Popular place to hang out and watch the planes come in. At 55 seconds you can see the American come in and see the other end of the runway where the mountain starts.
