I know I can buy one in Rush Springs but I'd like to buy one around OKC if possible. Anyone know where I can buy one?

I haven’t seen any in okc anywhere, but the wife bought a couple of Wiggins Brand Seedless watermelons at Aldi and they were excellent, the best this year so far.

It may be a bit early to see them hauling them by the truck load. I’ve been going through Rush Springs 1-2 days a week and they are just now starting to have a decent amount on the stands there.

I believe they are about 2-3 weeks out from the harvest starting to peak.

It seems to me that I heard that Rush Springs was moving away from Black Diamonds, but that was last year, so I could be misremembering. One of my folks' neighbors is from Rush Springs, and he usually keeps my dad appraised of what's happening there (as well as bringing him Rush Springs watermelons and cantaloupes).

I've bought watermelons for sale alongside the road before and the ones I've bought were hot, mushy, overripe and ended up tossed in the garbage. Maybe they've sat in the sun all day or I've shopped in the wrong area. I may take a run down to Rush Springs and see what they have, it'll be a nice drive regardless.

They ship most up north so they can get better prices. Okies won't pay a premium and can get good watermelons anywhere : )

Sadly the best ones with sugar running down the sides don't go anywhere, they just get plowed under.

There are a couple of stands that will have melons coming off a wagon/trailer right out of the field to put into their stand.

Stop in and eat at Smoke’n Joes BBQ while you are in Rush Springs. Closed on Wednesday and Sunday, located center of downtown.
