Believe it or not, there are men who are attracted to underage girls. Some of them have money and will pay others to arrange for their availability. It's not at all hard to believe that he knew they were underage, and sought them out FOR that reason. There is a whole trade around it. And unfortunately, not everyone grew up with Ozzie and Harriet.

But I agree that all the evidence has to be heard. All we have right now is the information that we have, and that's what is being discussed, and opinions are being offered on the assumption that at least some of it is true. Perhaps there should be a disclaimer, "IF the above is true, then...."

Boy Howdy! So, “Underage girls cannot be complicitous in sexual activity.” Well, you must have led a sheltered life in your teens , because girls that were under eighteen taught me a whole lot when I was a kid.

You are correct in referring to the law; but you are incorrect if you are referring to the reality. Hell, my Wife’s Grandma married her husband at 14 yrs old. I admit that’s young, but as I understand it, she’d have blown anyone away with a shotgun that tried to interfere. As I see it, people mature at different rates. My Wife was just a kid at 14; while two of our friends married in High School and married when he was 16 and she was 15. When I was 16, I had a 25 y.o. girlfriend for almost a year and she didn’t show me anything that I hadn’t learned when I was 13......

Once a person breaks free and begins exercising free will, there’s no turning back the clock.

Hal, This isn't a question of two kids in Arkansas getting married 60 years ago. Two kids... In Arkansas. (That wasn't a big deal even if they were cousins.) We get that. This is about an adult man bringing female children into a situation in which they were sexually abused. It's wrong, Hal. It's wrong.

I didn't say they can't be sexually active, I said they can't be sexually complicit. In context, you said before you could (not sure, criticize? condemn? vote against? Epstein) you would need to know to what extent they are complicit. They are not. Not legally for sure, and I think very few would try to argue morally when you compare their expected maturity level to that of a man in his sixties.

If you are talking about an underage COUPLE, then you might have an argument for not expecting a lot of maturity from either of them. But we are talking about underage girls, and men in their sixties. There's a reason for statutory rape laws, you're supposed to be smart enough to avoid those situations when you're an adult.

I think what I struggle with about your comment is your reluctance to believe Epstein would knowingly prostitute underage girls, but immediately assume that they ALL lied about their age?

I’m not aware of what exactly is entailed in this type of criminal enterprise. However, I have seen Federal Laws such as the RICO Law manipulated to charge individuals for crimes outside the scope and intent of laws they are charged for violating.....

So, Epstein is under incitement for operating a Sex Trafficking Ring? It doesn’t seem rational for him to engage in that kind of criminal enterprise because he certainly doesn’t need the money, and the risk to benefit ratio doesn’t compute.....this raises my suspicion that he is being ensnarled in an extended definition of the SexTrafficking Statutes. Ex: A NYC Prosecutor instructed forensic staff to disassemble a folding knife and to measure the blade from tip to base beyond its pivot hole to get a conviction because the blade extended less than 3.0” when opened and the statue defined knives as concealed weapons as those having blades of 3.0” or greater. I would have hung the jury on that case.....
