People think gas is more dangerous than electric, but compare how many houses burn from gas leaks or explosions vs. electrical fires. Electric is not risk-free.

Here, but occasionally There.
The ones causing loud explosions are what gets in the news the most. Those that are electrical in the nature of the fire gets less coverage.

I've worked with both electric and gas, and the wife prefers gas over electric both in cooking and in drying clothes.

That said, she refuses to relight a pilot light.

I have had gas for past 10+ years. New house didn't have gas so I had a line stubbed in. Dryer can dry a load of towels quicker than the washer can run em. Much faster, and I never saw a real difference in utilities vs before. Cheaper dryer, rebates, + convenience is a win in my book. I'll never use anything else.

No choice here. There are no gas lines in the country where we live. Total electric living for us.
You may not be able to get natural gas, but you could get propane. My mom's folks had a propane dryer (and propane heat and propane range).

FWIW, my electric dryer works fine, and it has been working fine for about 30 years.

I have propane heat in my shops, but the house will remain total electric. We've never had an issue with an electric dryer. I do love cooking on a gas stove top, but our flat top stove is a whole lot better than those element types. If anything boils over, just wipe it off. If it burns on, a safety razor blade scrapes it right off.

These are not the firearms you're looking for.

The new washing machines spin much faster than they used to --- therefore, the clothes are already drier than before. With that said, the cost savings of gas over electric isn't that much different. Also, the gas dryers cost about $100 more initially.

For folks that have to replace the electric heating elements frequently, most have been found to use 'extra' softening sheets. The extra 'scent' coats the elements creating hot spots. Thus the shorter life.

Good luck with your decision!
