We only have one vehicle, and since happy wife = happy life, she got to pick. We're actually on our second Soul now. Anyway, there is very little room by the driver's seat to stash my handgun when driving long distances. The middle glove box pretty much behind the seats so would be awkward to draw from. I could put in the map pocket of the door but it sits low so would be awkward to cross draw. I know my wife will not let me attach a holster to the underside of the dash and the seat its right up against the center console. Any ideas before I decide to fab my own mount with just a kydex shell?

I may end up having to fab something myself. There is no room to the right side of the seat, and I mean NO room. I can't even get my finger between the console and the seat. I have a mounting bracket under the front of the seat that I could use. I know my wife won't let me screw anything into the side of the console or the underside of the dash, so that's out. And when we take long trips her arm usually ends up resting over the cup holders so that option is out as well.

And trust me, I would much rather have either a car or a full fledged SUV than a crossover. It has a high riding suspension without the actual SUV style suspension. But, I do like the 30 MPG highway it gets.

Could you mount one in the center console? I thought about doing that on my 04 impala gluing a fobus paddle holster or the like to the inside of the console.

I could, but the console box sits somewhat behind the seats, making retrieval almost as awkward as cross drawing from the map pocket in the door. I think I'm going to just fab my own mount for a paddle holster using a mount bracket in the front of the seat. This way it will be out of the way/sight for the wife but there when I need it. Shouldn't be too hard, just some cutting, bending and drilling.
