Knocking on the door of 70 not only have I never eaten a corndog but I never jumped on the 9mm bandwagon either.....no particular reason for not ever owning something in 9mm, I just haven't.

Handgun wise I own multiple revolvers in 38 special, 357 mag and a 44 mag, two Ruger MKI's in 22 lr and a couple of M1911's in 45 acp but for some reason lately I've been thinking about 9mm's and I'm contemplating purchasing one just to see what all the hoopla is about.

I'd want the 9mm in a full size / 5" M1911, it would only be used at the range and at this stage I more than likely wouldn't start reloading for it but would try to find a source for reasonably priced bulk ammo.

'IF' I decide to purchase one I'm not going to jump into a $1000.00 + + gun.....price wise I'm thinking more along the lines of something like a Rock Island Armory or on the absolute high side maybe a Ruger SR1911.

For those that own or have fired M1911's chambered in 9mm how do you like them ?

I have had three or four 1911's in 9mm, and I'm currently looking for one. Very enjoyable to shoot. Looking at my notes, I have had two Rock Island and one Citadel, and I think I had one before these. I don't remember much about the Citadel, but I would not hesitate to buy another Rock Island.

I've got a Dan Wesson blued Valor, and a Colt, don't want to part with the Colt but might the Dan Wesson, but it's out of your self imposed price range

Springfield has lots of nice options in that price point and caliber.
I've been eyeballing their Range Officer Elite Operator as a stepping stone on the way to a Wilson Combat EXC X9.

1911 9mm's are crazy fun to shoot. I can't help you on which budget gun to buy because mine's a Dan Wesson, but it's the most accurate centerfire handgun I own.

I HAD a Colt Stainless Govt Model in 9mm. It was a great shooting gun. But I was stupid and either traded or sold it; don’t remember which. Wish I hadn’t done that now. Danggit. Maybe I’ll buy another one. I usually use AmmoSeek.com to find good prices on 9mm Ammo.
