Because of the fact I wear bifocas I have decided to put a scope on my newly acquired Springfield Saint AR. I have a extra scope I'm going to try, but I need higher rings or a mount with rings. I see the offset mounts, can someone advise me on the reason benefit for the offset is it for eye relief? Sorry I hope this is not a dumb question, just don't want to make a mistake.

I just used some tall weaver mounts from walmart on my AR.
The only issue is you can't pull the charging handle with 2 fingers like most people do.
I turn the rifle left side up and use my thumb only and it works very well doing it like that.
This was my first AR and I was not used to any other way to pull the charging handle.
I now have a Nikon 3-9x40 on it. Works great.

I think you also need the higher mount because you can't shoulder the rifle and get your head down that low if you used a low mount.
Bolt rifles have the comb and butt plate set much lower than the AR
