They may be easily defeated. Since the companies have to do an FCC filing just about anything with wireless sensors could be susceptible to the same flaw in almost the exact same way.

So as usual wired >wireless. Hopefully this gives everyone some information that will keep their stuff safe or might be what they need if their place was broken in to and had a type of system like this. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it could be something that would allow recovery from the alarm company.

Most alarms are like most safes (RSC)s. they keep honest people honest and helps the lazy thieves choose the neighbor instead of you. Smash and grabs by meth addicts or a$$hat teens aren't going to be this sophisticated. Most people don't have anything valuable enough to worry about people sophisticated enough to circumvent 98% of alarms. If you do have those types of criminals wanting your stuff. You probably have way more advanced security than Mr. Smith in his track home.

The only reason I even have an alarm is to let me know if some one is in the house when I am not expecting them. I don't want to come in after being out and come across a burglar...so my *silent* alarm is there for my situational awareness. Also, I am NOT a fan of subscriptions services that summon the police for you. All they will do is show up late and *maybe* shoot my dog. No thanks.

As far as the system is concerned, it is hardwired but has a cell transmitter to send me the notifications of intrusion.

I used to have Simplisafe, but there was way too much wireless interference with other IoT items and listening to it say "wireless interference detected" every 30 seconds got old VERY quickly.

I have to admit his method works like a charm.

Yep, and the kids will be using this to sneak back in to the house now.

I also realize that most criminals are not sophisticated. However they can and will learn, not to mention that it only takes one sophisticated one to ruin your day. So taking a few steps to try and thwart them is probably a good idea. Plus it may not be the criminals breaking in.

I used old tech to sneak back in. Grew up on a home with oak floors and a basement. Mom was a light sleeper, so I practiced walking across the floor to avoid the slats that creaked and would wake her up. I was the master of getting in and out. Lol.
