Never been before, just bought one to play around with and take the kids outside and enjoy nature and get away from TV. Any good places to go around oklahoma. I am in the shawnee area.

Stay away from Gov't land. The feds got some law about removing artifacts. Don't know how they discern trash from artifacts though.
If you want it, it's probably an artifact.

Years ago, our local FmHA agent told me that folks who sold land and kept the mineral rights would often claim those rights included creek gravel and any crushed rock taken from the property.

But he couldn't get 'em to claim all those rocks scattered across fields & pastures...

I'm mainly wanting to find coins and stuff. I have skimmed through the law on Metal detecting and it's not real clear to me. Can't on gov land, Indian land or historic landmarks. Some state parks you can with permission and a fee some you can't etc. Just looking for places to go and not have to pay a fine or jail time lol.

Go under clothes lines, those women of yesterday who hung clothes outside on a clothes line often had money drop from pants pockets and then beside driveways-people get out of their car and reach for the house keys and pull out other things that drop for you to find in later years with you metal detector.

I grew up near the TQHA* rodeo arena in North Texas. Myself and a couple of friends would look under the bleachers for dropped coins after the rodeo was over (I also got free admission by riding in the "Grand Entry"). It would have been a gold mine with a metal detector.

But I don't know if any place even has the old open-style board bleachers anymore.

Did this years ago when I lived in Georgia. There were lots of places to go that were sites of many Civil War battles, including a 50 acre plot a buddy owned...we got all sorts of stuff out of that land.

There's a whole area around North Kaw Lake where you aren't allowed to go for that reason. It's just a high fence in the middle of nowhere. Always heard there were native treasures to be found, but nobody I knew ever braved the federalis. Hoddy might know what's up there. The fence isn't too old.
