Kinda funny story.
Traded in my 2000 Chevy that I had installed a quick disconnect on the fuel rail for filling up my lawn mower. In a hurry to take my mods off before it's final trip back to the dealer I forgot the fuel pump keeps pressure on the fuel rail. Of course I had removed the Schrader valve when I installed the Q.D. I started unscrewing the fittings, dropped the Q.D. and had gas squirting every where.

Managed to stop the gas flow with a finger over the fitting but there I was with gas all over a hot engine and me thinking if this thing goes up the truck and I both are toast. Couldn't move because I was holding the gas back with my finger and if I let go I just knew the thing was going to go boom. Some how I managed to retrieve the Q.D. with my free hand and screw it back on. I immediately grabbed the water hose and washed the engine down to disperse the gas.

Plugged in my filler hose to relieve the pressure, which I should have done in the first place, removed everything and reinstalled the Schrader. Then went in the house to change my shorts.

BReeves, you know we have this really cool invention recently developed. It’s called the 1 gallon, 2 gallon and 5 gallon gas cans. They’re really handy. Take them from the garage or shed and throw them in the back of the truck. Just fill them at the gas station (with non-ethanol) and throw in some Stabil. Then just fill as needed.

I guess I’d never have been smart enough to think of your plan, ingenious enough to pull it off or possess enough desire to put the work in on something like that. I’ve honestly never heard of something like this.

Glad you’re ok and that it all worked.

I'm 74 and weigh 120, luging gas cans isn't fun. The adaptor for the test port I found on-line as well as the quick disconnect. Then it was just a matter of finding the wire that went back to the fuel pump, adding another relay and switch under the hood. Plug in my hose and hit the switch, my zero turn holds about 3 gallons, takes about 10 minutes to fill it and no lugging gas cans.

Yep, sounds much easier than a 2 gallon gas can.
