I'm in the market (I think?) for a used pickup.

I can barely climb out of our '98 Crown Vic (it was Sweetie's car), and I'd like to have a pickup anyway for the ocassional 2"x4" or whatever. My old '76 F-250 (300ci & 4spd) hasn't been cranked in 12-15 yrs, and needs more work than I can do. Plus, I want an auto transmission and AC.

However, my nephew & his wife both have full-size pickups (Ford and Chevy) and I practically need a forklift to get into the lowest one (the Chevy).

Does anyone make a normal-height pickup that you can just step into with one foot on the ground (like older models)?

Thanks.

NOT ANYMORE! :scream:

Just went through ALL the new stuff, including Jeep Gladiator, which comes closest to people height . (Bring a cosigner!)
I am fixing everything on my 2004 Dakota and going to make it last as long as I can.

Best offer I got was a Ford dealer has been installing lowering kits for old dudes.

I have a Ford F150 Platinum, it has the running boards that come down when you open the door. Makes it very easy to get in and out of. Other Fords have that option available I believe.
I have a bum ticker and a bad leg/bad knee. Don't want any kind of steps. :/

I hear ya. Hmmm... wonder how much one of those kits cost? :/

So are you saying that you have a 76 ford pickup for sale ?
Lol, actually I do. Just put "for sale" signs on it a few days ago.

I drive a 2010 Ranger and it's just right for me.
The new 2019 Rangers, like the Tacomas, are a bit higher than the old Rangers but still better than most of the full size pickups in that regard.

when i get to the no longer driving point i'll have a 2018 Nissan Frontier King Cab that will be a good buy, if my daughter doesn't want it and right now she says no, i bought it 14 months ago and it has 1400 miles on it. it's comfortable to drive and wants to go 70 all the time LOL . it's a nice mid size/small truck, but might be too tall for you, you'd have to come see how you fit.

Just picked up an old 70's ford that has not been started in over 10 years.
It has the 360 and I poured gas into the bowl vent and stuck a battery into it and cranked it over.. it cranked slow then fired right up. Gotta love a Ford. Drove it right up to the trailer and it was running on the old gas that was in it.

Maybe if you want an auto and ac you could do an LS swap into the old Ford.
MoBoost here has a shop and could do it turn key and equip it with AC.
Or just get an auto stuck into it and some AC.
Those 300" sixes and other Ford inline 6's are excellent and if you keep clean oil and filters in them they will go 400,000+ miles

Just a thought ya know
