I am thinking I want one of these. Just gathering your thoughts at this time. I'm having total knee replacement next Wednesday, and want some ideas to consider while I'm waiting for my return to the walking world.

All comments will certainly be appreciated and considered!

Thanks

Personally I do not get the pistol caliber rifles, I understand what you gain with going that route but you can do the same with 5.56 and 7.62 and AK47 or 74 through doors or vehicles and such in that type scenario just makes more sense to me. Just my thinking on the subject and I am by no means an expert.

Many AR pistols in 9mm (or 40 and 45 for that matter) can be used with standard pistol magazines like Glock, Sig or S&W. I dont know of any AKs 9mm's that will take regular pistol magazines I could be wrong though. The AK pistols I have seen in pistol calibers all use SMG type magazines which are a lot more expensive

Also I am biased on the AR, AK thing... Built 2 AK's from parts kits. Was a blast , learned a lot and enjoy shooting cheap ammo LOL.

I do not argue that an AR is more accurate as I always was amazed at the M16 's open site accuracy while in the Army but !!!

Some interesting, and thought provoking comments already. And some of you have some pretty firm opinions, gee who would have thought that! LOL

This is something that I started thinking about earlier this week, and with the reality of being a bit confined for a couple of weeks, I'm fortunately not going to be making an impulse purchase.

I have had various 556/223 ARs, and a couple of 7.62 AKs over the years. Enjoyed them, but not enough to keep one for more than a year at the most. Just didn't do much for me any more. I have no anticipated need, only a blossoming interest that may never move much beyond the knee recovery time!

Thank you for the comments and suggestions. If nothing else, I'll enjoy thinking about something.
