Died laughing when I saw that. You know why he took the ML instead of Hi Point? It would at least fire once before it became a blunt weapon.

Plus, it’s heavier and you can swang it around better once it’s run outta bullets, which oughta be purty quick.

Does anybody else think this is a setup for more red flag push? It is clear that the 2A crowd is literally up in arms about these heinous anti American, Anti-Constitutional, Anti-Bill of Rights laws. This is my take that got me marked as a spam on Daily Signal.

What are red flag laws?

The illegal confiscation of a law abiding citizen's property who has committed no crime, without due process, without the opportunity to defend themselves in court BEFORE they are denied the use of their property. Would it be OK if the police came to your door at five in the morning with swat and weapons at the ready and took you car because it looked like one that was used in a robbery or a shooting and told you you could have it back in two or three weeks if you could prove it wasn't used in the crime? Why then do you think it is OK to do that to the 140 million Americans that own firearms.



Red Flag laws open the door for MD senseless killings of law abiding citizens in their home by the police for a false claim, ever heard of swatting. If these laws are to be effective then they MUST mandate TAPS as the ONLY trigger to activate them and then in order to not deny a law abiding citizen the use of their LEAGLLY acquired property without due process, they must have a hearing BEFORE their rights are suspended or dis-annulled all together.



What’s wrong with current laws?

Nothing, if they enforced and the judiciary actually did their job. Also why is it the fault of the gun owners that the gov has ignored people that have reported these and tell me they didn't. Because Sandyhook shooter had been reported by several people and there was substantive evidence that he was volatile. The manifesto from Tacoma, El Paso, AND Dayton all had clear indications of violent acts in them. Yet nothing was done. Instead we blame the virtue signaling left's favorite target the legal gun owners. BTW there some 30, 000 people killed by drunk and intoxicated drivers every year, yet NOTHING IS being done to curtail that slaughter because it doesn't fit the narrative.



What about the Second Amendment?

What about it. No other right is indemnified with the term “shall not be infringed”. So the taking of arms from a citizen that has committed no crime is in and of itself a slap in the face to the very basis of our juris prudence, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty. And what of it did not Benjamin Franklin state: “it is better [one hundred] guilty Persons should escape than that one innocent Person should suffer". OR would you rather have the same as more authoritarian personalities who are supposed to have taken the opposite view; Bismarck is believed to have stated that "it is better that ten innocent men suffer than one guilty man escape;" and Pol Pot to have made similar remarks. Sure living under Pol-Pot or Bismark, you DO know who he is right, would surely be better than to live in a free society where we pick and choose which deaths have meaning and which don't , because that is exactly what you are. Saying. While ob the subject of rights what about the 1st, 4th, 5th, 9th and 10th rights enumerated in our Bill of Rights. You do remember those don't you?

How about this scenario: I would like to relate this as it might apply to another right. Let's say that there is a site that has an article that I think may provoke certain individuals to violence. I submit a report to the authorities and they go to the news site's physical location. They confiscate the word processors, computers, notes, and research that the author used to produce the questionable article.



Now the news agency is without all this equipment and their research and their notes because they “may” have instigated a violent response with their article that could result in the loss of American lives.

They can have all their things back in two or three weeks, after they too pay for a lawyer, prepare a defense against an unnamed and unknown complainant, and faced a judiciary inquiry as to whether in the judge's eye their article posed a threat or not.







Could red flag laws have stopped previous shootings?

NO, the same people that refused to report these actors to law enforcement under the current laws would also have refused to do so under the proposed unconstitutional laws.



What makes a good red flag law?

There are no good red flag laws. The proper way to execute this is to use TAPS investigations on substantiated reports of escalating instability towards violence. This is NOT a red Flag law, this is common sense.



Aren’t red flag laws dangerous for law enforcement?

Yes and to citizens that are innocent of any wrong doing as well.

Anne Arundel County Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Monday morning in Ferndale.

Police spokesman Jacklyn Davis said officers responded to 103 Linwood Avenue at around 5:15 a.m. to serve an “emergency risk protective order,” also known as the red flag order. The man answered the door armed with a handgun and a struggle ensued as officers attempted to disarm the man, Davis said. During the struggle, the man’s handgun discharged and police fired shots, Davis said. Davis says no Anne Arundel County officers were injured in the struggle. The suspect was pronounced dead on scene.”
Maryland Governor Hogan disregarded veto requests and signed “red flag” bill (HB 1302) in Spring of 2018. Under that bill as it became law, virtually anyone can ask a law enforcement officer to file an ex parte petition with a state district court judge or commissioner and allege that the gun owner poses an immediate danger to himself/herself or others because (and only because) he or she possesses firearms. If the court issues the order, the police can show up on the doorstep and seize the person’s firearms without notice or warning.




All it takes is a family member, dating partner, or roommate to claim that someone is a danger to themselves or others to have his or her Second Amendment rights stripped away by secret court hearing.”

Doesn't seem to me to be the right thing to do now does it. An innocent man lost his life as a result.

In summary I would like to remind people of TRUE reason for the 2nd Amendment. First it is the teeth of the Bill of Rights that has defended and protected all the other rights we have. If the 2nd Amendment falls all the other rights we enjoy will certainly fall. Take for example the attacks of our religious freedoms. We can go to church on Sunday and that's OK with those who oppose Biblical Christianity. But don't YOU DARE use the name of JESUS CHRIST in the public square, and how DARE YOU live your faith in your day to day life. The left would have us to believe that we don't have this right but this is exactly what we are supposed to have under the First amendment prohibition clause: “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; ” Yet we are now ham strung because if we act by our faith then we will surely be jailed for hate speech, lose our businesses for discrimination because we acted on our beliefs, or be jailed for not furthering the agenda of sexual deviants.

Yet we are to believe that government would not impose its tyrannic will on us if there were in fact no check to place balance on their actions. And even with this balance, government, which is established to PROTECT our rights has clearly become the greatest usurper and enemy of those very rights.

What did the founders of this great Republic think about this. Well One need only read the Declaration of Independence to ascertain this from the truth of history:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security”

You want red flag laws for the false promise of peace and safety which is a lie straight from the pits of Hell. The issue isn't the guns, the issue is the heart of men. After your long fight against the abortion murders in this nation you still haven't figured out that the Left's value of human life is as a commodity on which to gain and build power over other human beings. Patrick Henry Was staunchly opposed to any false claims that could be evidenced on the promises of peace and safety. In his own words he was clearly against this notion on which these unconstitutional laws are being built as he stated: “It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace-- but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! ”

Remember that many brave souls have thought our liberty and rights more valuable than their own lives, and yet here we sit discussing the very destruction of those rights and their foundations. SHAME ON YOU HERITAGE FOUNDATION AND DAILY SIGNAL, SHAME ON YOU!

Have you weighed the two? I'm not convinced the ML would outweigh the HiPoint.

@Cowcatcher: Hmmm, you may be right. Let me go grab my EDC pistol, my totally custom USMC Hipoint, and see how much she weighs. Now, mine is maybe a bit lighter than most others, like the ones you, @dennishoddy , @bigred1 and @blake711 have and carry every day. I've taken a Dremel to it, like Rocky showed me, and really reamed that chamber and stuff out real good you know, I mean like a bunch of metal chunks flaked off and stuff, but I took a wood file and smoothed it out purty good, so's it will be an even better shooter. It's a real custom job. I'll have to see if I can find a muzzleloader to compare; maybe the one my mother in law has in her old truck...

P.S. I think I'll go ahead and take the material off around the trigger guard, like Dennis did to his, so I can get muh fanger on the trigger even faster when I pull iron from muh Fobus!
