The Stanley is the hotel that inspired Stephen King to write The Shining after staying there, it was filmed in England and Oregon. Don't tell your family though lol, it's a cool place all the same, my son and I stayed there a few summers ago. Did you request room 217???? :)

I've not eaten a bad meal in Estes anywhere. We usually spend most of our time in RMNP.

Good to know. I really don't want to stay there. I'm a Hilton/Homewood guy personally, but my mother has talked about it since we lived there. Should be a good time, hope I don't get bed bugs.

It's good, they'll enjoy it, rooms are relatively small but that's part of the experience.

Well, if you're a Bigfoot fan you need to stop at the Safeway gas station and see the Bigfoot photos the owner took. Then there's the Stanley hotel where they filmed Dumb and Dumber and the guides have an interesting story about Jim Carrey. The scenery is beautiful. We try to visit every other year. I love the place! By the way, the shining movie was not filmed there but Stephen King did stay there and wrote the book based on his experience there.

Beautiful place, parents rented a cabin for 3 weeks when I was young. Went back to Estes for family reunion awhile back. Also , went to United State Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, worth seeing.

Weather permitting, take the skyline drive from Estes Park to Granby.

I remember making that trip back in the 90's. I remember we stopped off at a huge crystal clear lake and did some fishing. I've still got a 55lb granite stone from that drive my parents picked up as a momento. They didn't know it was illegal to remove rocks from RMNP lol. It still sits on the corner of my back porch.
