I actually spent all day yesterday listening to their whole library, from Opiate through Fear Inoculum (I'm self employed and work from home). I came to the conclusion that while the new one isn't bad, if they had put that out instead of Undertow, I would have never gotten into TOOL. I like the songs from it, but it's just a bit too "prog rock" for me. I'll listen to it on occasion, but I am positive I'll never have the love for it that I have for Opiate, Undertow and Aenima. Lateralus is where they kind of started losing me, and except for a couple of songs, 10,000 Days does just about nothing for me.
Post undertow is not easy listening that’s for sure. It’s ok, you can go back to your pantera
Oh, I definitely go back to Pantera. I got the pleasure of seeing them live 3 times before they broke up.
I'm so sick of Walk by Pantera now. The Katt played it every other song when I was in my work truck.
I haven't listened to the radio in probably a year and a half. At home, it's Pandora or YouTube. In my Jeep, it's Pandora. And in my wife's car it's Sirius. [emoji38]
After listening to the new album a few times through, I pretty much had the same thoughts. Solid album, but not really in the same ballpark as their early work. I get the feeling that some of the songs could have been leftovers from Lateralus. BTW...anyone else notice the number of recycled riffs from several songs off of Lateralus? There are several.
Not sure how I feel about the Pink Floyd'esque psychedelic sounding parts on Pneuma and Invincible either. The break on Invincible reminds me of the Psalms section on Pigs (Animals). The 7:08 mark of Descending even sounds a similar to the opening guitar solo on One of These Days (Meddle).

I try not to, but my old work truck didn't have a cd, USB or auxiliary to plug into so I had no choice.
"They" say it inoculates you against fear. They don't say it has mercury in it, and they don't say it causes autism.
