Not the first time they gave the common man the middle finger. Have my Father in Law's duty side arm from the early 80's, but after the last time they discontinued sales to "civilians" citizens I swore I would never buy another Colt product. Almost changed my mind last year, glad I didn't. They can suck it for all I care, contracts or not.

For the most part, labor unions do to companies what socialism does to countries.

I saw the Labor Union destroy Scrivner in OKC. The grocery business in OKC was starting to get very competitive and tough for even a local wholesaler to stay in business. This was back when there were 10-12 different grocery chains in OKC alone. Scrivner went to the Union and asked for a drop in wages to stay competitive. This was the late 80's and order pullers in the warehouse were making $14 hour ... forklift drivers $22 ... they had 600+ trucks ... 800+ trailers ...

The Union refused ... Scrivner's business started collapsing and they layed off workers and eventually sold off what was left

We've seen it many times over the years - when a labor union cuts off their nose to spite their face and ends up killing the golden goose. Short-sighted.

I was wondering how long it would take someone to find that comment.[emoji16]

I read that before I did the original post, that is why I added the question marks to the title.
Yes, I kinda figured your question marks were for the legitimacy of the article. Thought I would go ahead and stick that in there before Colt got bashed much more.

Another comment I read said that contract work would take priority and that the flow of civilian rifles from Colt may slow down a little.

I just found this update on the article.

Here's what TTAG has posted for an update:

UPDATE: TTAG was able to speak directly with Paul Spitale, Senior Vice President of Colt’s commercial business line. He confirmed the above. Colt has halted production of its commercial long guns lines and is focusing its manufacturing and sales on 1911s and revolvers.

He also stressed that Colt has about 110 days of long gun inventory in its distribution network and if market conditions change down the road, they could revisit this decision.

In this day and age, sometimes I think we are offered too much information. Doesn't appear that it will affect Curt the Colt buyer at all.
