My brother has kune kunes, and he's switching breeds after this lot is off to the butcher. He said he had to spend too much money feeding them over the winter, and they don't put on enough weight to justify the expenditure, so he's going to try a breed that is better at putting on weight.

They are a slow growing medium sized heritage breed but I knew that prior to adopting them.. They are the best grazing pigs there is and if grazed do not need to be fed most months of the year.. Because of their medium size, I butcher here and save processing $$.. It's a homestead pig and of lard type so it's nothing like todays commercial meat pigs that are developed to grow out in 5 months..

My daughter and son in law have the same kind here I fact they had ten bacon bits last week
