A First Sergeant is a rank, an E-8 pay grade, as surjimmy pointed out, but it is not unique to the MP MOS (Military Occupational Specialty). There are First Sergeants in every field in the Corps. It is a senior enlisted rank, equal in pay grade to a Master Sergeant, who also an E-8. The next step for a First Sergeant is Sergeant Major, the Master Sergeants' line go to the Master Gunnery Sergeant rank. These two are at the top of the enlisted ranks in the Marine Corps. The senior most enlisted Marine in the USMC is the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, who serves as the Commandant's top enlisted advisor.

A direct answer with regards to your question is "yes". There are First Sergeants who are MP's by virtue of their MOS.

I remember One day in the army, my buddy was going awol and I tried to stop him. Well just as I was fighting with him, here come two hot female MPs in a Jeep. I put on the charm and they let us off with a little scolding and dropped us off at our barracks. A few weeks later we ran into them again, one thing lead to another, and we had a crazy tryst with them in the base commandant’s quarters who happened to be out of town.
Good times

Did you plop her up on the stove and give her the aunt Jamama treatment too? Then a few days later, I'll bet you, her and her buddy and your pal, whisked off to Czechoslovakia in a big Winnebago looking assault vehicle, huh.

1st SGT is a E8 Rank, not just of MP's. Marine also have a Master SGT E-8. !st Sgt is Admin-Personnel Sgt. I must be an even crustier old Marine, because we didn't wear no stinkin badges at Bartsow or Camp Pendlton, we wore a Brassard. 5811 was created just after I became an MP, Sometime after 69.

I was an 1141 Electrician in the Marines to start. I transferred into MCSD Barstow, in 69 and reported to the base SGT Major. He ask me what MOS 1141 was and I told him. He told me they didn't have any Electricians on Barstow and I was now an MP. That started me down the road after I got out to a 34 year career in Law Enforcement

Appreciate that reply. I've got multiple badges from Camp Pendleton and Barstow. Just don't know what time periods they were used.

That’s because Barstow didn’t have electricity (or indoor plumbing) way back then. It’s the rump-end duty station of the Marine Corps. If the Govt were to give the Marine Corps an enema, they’d shove it in Barstow.
