Ok, educate me.

I know there's different grades of hammer drills, bits, and the material being drilled into.

So if a guy is using a Dewalt Hammer drill (19v cordless) with an unknown brand masonry bit (7/32) going only about an inch into brick and is making virtually no progress...whats the culprit?

I'm hoping its the unknown brand Masonry bit and a higher quality one will help things along. I dont expect a cordless hammer drill to cut into brick like wood...but I'm thinking it should be better than it is.

Any suggestions on a brand of bit to choose for a standard 3-jaw chuck?

Some of the cordless hammer drills, don’t hammer as hard, this combined with a cheap bit can be frustrating. Got one you can borrow if needed.

I was hoping to do this on my own...but may borrow yours (and return the impact haha) and do a comparison.
I'm gonna get a fresh and hopefully better bit tomorrow.

Some hard fired brick is very hard especially some of the real old ones.

Cordless chucked drills impact differently then a rotary impact.

With cordless I only drill on hammer setting and high speed good amount of pressure

If that does not do it then the next step up is an SDS plus

Ok. I'm sure you checked this and no I'm not calling you dumb or anything but you did check to make sure you've got it forward not reverse, right? Other than that I say try a different bit.
