I hate being "that guy" with stuff like this...I really do. I'm a DIY guy but my tool selection is more for working on cars...so my power tool setup is lacking. Been slowly getting more of that but its a hard pill to swallow to buy a $250+ drill to use every few years at best.

I think the hard fired brick can be the culprit. I had reused brick on my first house. The brick was originally used as road pavers in Kansas. I drilled a one inch hole through one of the brick and it took me three hours and a burned up drill.

.
Some hard fired brick is very hard especially some of the real old ones.

Cordless chucked drills impact differently then a rotary impact.

With cordless I only drill on hammer setting and high speed good amount of pressure

If that does not do it then the next step up is an SDS plus

Need 4 holes and they're spaced to be right on the edge of mortar/brick (swell)...which I assume would make the bit prone to walking and not drill a true hole. So to get the same material, I put it on the bricks.
Gotcha, how precise do the holes need to be? Whatcha mounting?

I have also found bricks you can't drill through.
Usually setting a post or gate next to the house and you wish to attach to the brick.

It is much easier to just abandon the idea and get a steel post square or round and weld some steel plate to the bottom of it and anchor it onto the concrete right next to the brick wall.
Or re build the bracket and mount it into the mortar.

No idea what you are doing exactly though. Hose hanger??
I had Milwaukee hammer drills corded ones and good carbide masonry bits and some things just do not play nice.

I'm attempting to put up a video doorbell. SEEMS like with how many of these things are sold, this shouldnt be a big deal...but I guess it is becoming one.
I assume a good number of houses dont have brick right up to the front door so thats probably part of it. I'm going to try a different bit tomorrow and if that doesnt work, I'll look into construction adhesive or something. Seems like its making a moutain out of a molehill.
