Are they trying to run off their best customers?

Walmart to end e-cigarette sales as vaping illnesses mount
Walmart is discontinuing sales of e-cigarettes and other electronic smoking devices amid mounting concerns about potential health risks associated with their use, the company confirmed on Friday.
“Given the growing federal, state and local regulatory complexity and uncertainty regarding e-cigarettes, we plan to discontinue the sale of electronic nicotine delivery products at all Walmart and Sam’s Club U.S. locations,” a company spokesperson said in a statement.
The Arkansas-based retailer said it would no longer stock the products after selling through its existing inventory. The decision came days after the Trump administration proposed a ban on sales of vaping flavored vaping products.
Earlier this summer, Walmart changed its minimum age to buy tobacco products to 21 and noted it would stop selling some types of flavored e-cigarettes....

I predict that in 10 years Walmart and other major retailers will stop selling smokes all together.

Arkansas recently passed a bill moving the legal age to purchase from 18 to 21 by 2020. Walmart upped the ante by taking that policy nationwide.

I actually applaud the move.

Are they trying to run off their best customers?

I would have to look at sales numbers and market segment analysis' to make the statement that e-cig users are Walmart's "best customers". I'm not armed with that data, but I would go out on a limb and say that is a false assumption.

Imagine having a vape store, doing great 3 weeks ago, now you're selling a death machine that kills children and they're talking about taking your product off the market............hmm, where else have I seen something like that.....?

Things happen too fast, the latest cause pops up and the media gets on board in a couple of days (without any real investigation) and pretty soon school children will be taking off school to protest it.

I have no dog in the vaping fight, this is just another act in the circus to me.

    • About 6.7 percent of adults who had AUD in the past year received treatment. This includes 7.4 percent of males and 5.4 percent of females with AUD in this age group.5
  • Youth (ages 12–17): According to the 2015 NSDUH, an estimated 623,000 adolescents ages 12–176 (2.5 percent of this age group7) had AUD. This number includes 298,000 males6 (2.3 percent of males in this age group7) and 325,000 females6 (2.7 percent of females in this age group7).
  • About 5.2 percent of youth who had AUD in the past year received treatment. This includes 5.1 percent of males and 5.3 percent of females with AUD in this age group.5
Alcohol-Related Deaths:
  • An estimated 88,0008 people (approximately 62,000 men and 26,000 women8) die from alcohol-related causes annually, making alcohol the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States. The first is tobacco, and the second is poor diet and physical inactivity.9

I love how open carry in their stores and now vaping is offensive but they have no problem with some dude walking around their Sand Springs store with a shirt that says F*** It in huge letters. Nice family place.

But they keep selling regular cigarettes? Approx 500K deaths per year but they keep selling them? Hmmmm, seems legit.
