Wow! Can’t believe I got one like that from the factory, not exactly cheap ammo either. I don’t know enough about the internal combustion of ammunition but I’m glad it didn’t partially push it out there or squib. Would that have even been possible?
Could it have caused a squib? Possible. What happened there is the pressure blew backwards around the primer since there was a gap. Soooo, the weak spot when the "explosion" went off was around the primer instead of the pressure pushing the bullet.

Take it to them and get your money back.

Freedom munitions was and is total trash ammo

I've heard some complaints about that brand.
I do know after policing up brass after a USPSA match you find several live rounds that were ejected that had backwards or sideways primers. Don't know if it was remanufactured or reloads, but it's not an uncommon issue.
