I saw this on the news a couple of days ago. Sickening.

"For us to be like the best most inclusive body, I thought that we should remove it,” OU senior Gabi Thompson, who authored the bill, said.

Despite some criticism, that’s one reason why Thompson told News 4 she authored the bill.

"It was written as a celebration of Columbus Day in 1892, and in the city of Norman we don't celebrate Columbus Day, we celebrate Indigenous People's Day,” Thompsons said. "I was really able to connect with a lot of the international students and them saying thank you for writing it.”

If they are not going to pledge to this country, which one are they going to opt for? The government has taken nearly everything away that we felt was sacred, even "So help me God" when being sworn is currently being debated by the democrats. I'm quite sure this country is in trouble and we aren't going to return to what we used to be in a lot of aspects. There is a saying, "If a person doesn't stand for something, they'll stand for anything."

Can we give OU to Kalifornia. A lot of the Professors and students are bleeding heart liberals. When you look at voting, Cleveland county is very blue. Maybe a targeted strike from a wayward drone could fix it. Just kidding.......sort of.

I'm just surprised it took this long. While so many of us love our in state athletics, the school is no different than any other major liberal university in this country.

And OSU will be following suit soon, as well, for all those who want to point fingers. The slide has begun people. Nothing is going to stop it but a major shift in thought and society. What can or will bring that about we could argue about 'till the cows come home.

The O U College Republicans response:

The OU College Republicans wrote a response stating that “while we respect everyone’s right to not say the Pledge of Allegiance, we would urge them to do otherwise. The Pledge of Allegiance transcends partisanship, race, ethnicity, and all of the divides in our country. It reminds us that though we may disagree, or look different, or not worship the same, we are one nation, indivisible.”

The response also stated that it is no different than our flag or national anthem and that these “symbols of freedom” are recognized and celebrated throughout the world, including in Hong Kong, where protesters wave the flag and sing the Star-Spangled Banner.

Celeste Barber, the former Santa Barbara City College professor who is now suing her former employer after being heckled while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance during the public comment section of a board of trustees meeting, reacted to the news in Oklahoma in an exclusive statement to Campus Reform.

"What these students, and they are misguided, are attempting to do is to silence the free expression of speech in this country, and that can never, never be permitted," Barber said.
