I'm biting at the bit to go but just this week had a broken toilet and roof leak so it looks like my weekend is shot......thinking about taking a day during the week next week....

No dead deer pictures yet!!! What’s the deal? I’m working 6 days a week right now and just too lazy on my day off so far. Plus it’s been so hot. I know I’m getting softer these days.
I now the feeling I get a day off every 2 weeks and I guess I’m getting old because it’s hard to get out of bed early on your only day off

I got in one hunt Tuesday morning and had to head home for a job, and I had about decided to turn around and head back Thursday morning to hunt with my son. Other than the fact I’m getting old and just not as mad at the deer as I used to be, the weather forecast wasn’t looking good. I don’t do the right thing very often, but not coming back was evidently the right decision this time. My youngest son was bound and determined to come up no matter what the weather forecast said, and now he can’t even get to a stand due to flooding.
I tried to tell him...:anyone:

I skipped opening day because the front yesterday was promising enough to break tradition. I ended up running a little late and slipped into the stand. Head on a swivel and at 7:15, a doe slipped in away 20 yards. I stopped her at 18 and made a perfect shot. She didn't know she was hit. She stumbled then walked 10 yards and laid down. I had to wait for 2 younger does with her to quit blowing at her for 20 minutes. Afternoon hunt I sat for 7.5 hours as the camera showed movement from 1pm on. Had 7 Turkey slip in at 330 but it was too early in the hunt to take one. Had 2 young young bucks come in from downwind at 6 and stay for 45 minutes, but nothing else.

I did not doctor the arrow placement. That's where it stopped.
