Charlie,

I believe you are absolutely right.

Years ago I was researching beef jerky and found out it was origionally made out of necessity to preserve beef or big game meat because of no refrigeration. Of course, the Native Americans had been doing it forever.

Folks got creative when eating the jerky and besides just chewing it down, they added water to rehydrate it and started adding spices, etc.

After bragging about making the best jerky, Dennis challenged me to a high noon duel for master jerky maker....I turned him down because I was afraid he might win:)
