Front. Back. Doesn't matter. The sound comes through the same no matter which way they're oriented.

For the most part yes but they are slightly directional. For instance when running a saw or something of that nature with them turned towards the back they don't clip the sound as well as if they are faced towards the front. So basically you get to listen to an amplified saw vs a muffled one. When shooting it doesn't matter as much since the sound cuts out but if you are trying to hear someone talk and they are in front of you it may not pick up as well.

Ok. So is this a shooting forum or a wood saw forum? Sometimes I forget because so many people talk about their morning at the doctors office, or how their bowel movements are going.

The point is that if you are walking in the woods with them on WHILE HUNTING WHICH INCLUDES SHOOTING you may not hear things in front of you as well. I was using my experience as an example. However feel free to be a jerk.

So quick to be a name caller. You mentioned running a saw, not walking through the woods. So I'm a Jerk for stating what you mentioned does not qualify what the muffs are intended for?

He was actually addressing the directional issue, which you said does not matter. If it doesn't matter, then it should be no different whether yer cutting wood or throwing hand grenades.

Your username seems to be a self-fullfilling prophecy. :drunk2:

You can't blame the muffs for your hearing loss.
Not trying to be rude, but the elephant in the room is your own acknowledgement of poor hearing.
For someone who isn't trying to be rude, you're doing an awful good job at it. I am not blaming the muffs for my hearing loss as I have had the hearing loss for my entire life and I just got the muffs. Clear enough for you?

I'm looking for ideas to help me, not someone being a smart ass jerk.

Geesh.

Wow. You guys get your feelings hurt super easy when someone tells you directly what the problem is.
I was just saying that other earmuffs aren't going to be your solution.
