I don't know why anyone would live there. With the threat of wildfires and high winds, recently bankrupted PG&E is proactively shutting down power across large swaths of the state. I can only imagine the madness if they keep the lights off for more than 24 hours...,

Move to Ponca City. The ice storms are bad enough to knock out the power for days. Worst I ever e experienced was two and a half weeks around the turn of the century.

Former mother in law went 22 days without power in the 'burbs of Little Rock Arkansas after an ice storm in 2000/2001. She had to deal with her 55 year old husband who due to a stroke a couple of years earlier had the mentality of a 6 year old. I have no desire to live without electricity for any significant amount of time.

On the plus side it should reduce global warming

Portable generators are probably illegal in CA so a double win.

I see a new earth friendly livestyle in the future for many there.... the green party will be ecstatic
