I don't agree with firing her over this. The person who directed she get what she wanted? Sure.

When they ordered my work vehicle (17' Tahoe 4x4), I got to specify the color (dark metallic blue). They wouldn't have approved any extra cost colors or options that weren't "mission essential". The order should've been rejected based on the seats and extra equipment she didn't need to perform her job.

However I'm sure the fleet manager was under pressure to "color outside the lines" on this one and shouldn't have.

I don't agree with firing her over this.

I think this was but one of many items that led to a large house-cleaning of DPS; I don't suspect this (the color, anyway) to be the sole reason for her termination but perhaps it did make for the most entertaining Oklahoman news article (and my subsequent sensationalist post here at OK Shooters).

The first thing the new OHP Chief needs to do is tell his Troopers that they need to be examples and follow the law. If they would just not speed unless running code, I would be happy. I’m sure that’s the last thing the new Chief will do, however.

What . Lead by example!! Surely you jest!!
