I just posted in another thread. If the Enrolled HB 2597 is the final copy, it seem there is no reference to carrying in bars like the old laws. It also seems Section 1289.24 negates any laws from other areas such as alcohol regulations.

I am not wanting to get into a personal opinion, "just because you can", moral issues, etc. I am just looking for the legal aspect.

I used to visit Indiana frequently, going into a true bar to have a beer carrying was no different than walking into a Micky Ds to get a coke. Is Oklahoma the same now?

Direct me to the section that I am missing if you find it.

I should add, I am looking at http://webserver1.lsb.state.ok.us/cf_pdf/2019-20 ENR/hB/HB2597 ENR.PDF

Is there another version out there somewhere?

2597 doesn’t mention 1272.1 because it didn’t amend 1272.1

It appears that 1272.1 still stands and is still part of the body of different sections of law that encompass what we know as “The SDA Lawbook”....

So it appears that if one carries under constitutional carry, you can’t bring it into a place that serves low-point beer or alcohol. Oversight by the legislature or intentional?

I've always carried into restaurants that serve beer but are labeled as a restaurant. I know 2 cops who work undercover and they are always carrying and I've asked both of them about this. They also drink a couple beers while carrying and said, you can drink one or two and basically if your not intoxicated above the level to legally drive, your okay. Thats not what law says but apparently what they judge by.

Sheesh . . .

“We had hundreds of volunteers that talked with lawmakers, that urged lawmakers to oppose this,” Moms Demand Action volunteer Cacky Poarch said. “If you need a driver’s license to drive a car, you should have a permit to use a gun. I still believe that.”

And more . . .

On Friday, Oklahoma City Police Chief Bill Citty spoke about concerns his department has regarding the new permitless carry law.

Citty says that he is concerned about the law allowing irresponsible people to carry guns, adding that he feels like this "is the wrong direction."

"Saying it makes communities safer is a pretty tired and old statement, as far as I'm concerned," he said.

Citty says that he believes people have a right to protect themselves, but he doesn't believe this law is the right way to do that.

"People have a right to protect themselves, protect their home, protect their business, but there needs to be checks-and-balances," Citty said, adding that he believes the bill will result in an increase in deaths.

Blood in the streets!!

I think the guy with the long gun is a supreme ass, but if SHTF in that restaurant and he dropped multiple bad guys, I and probably others would say "see, good thing he had it".

Of course. 1272.1 says (has always said) you can carry into a restaurant that serves booze as long as you have a carry permit. Just another subtle difference between carrying without a permit now.

From what I understand, it states the "primary purpose" in which food sales is the primary purpose of most restaurants. Bars obviously would be a different story. Hence I asked the same question about asshat trying to get into Oktoberfest. They are going to need to clarify or amend the law because there are no "low point" beer licenses anymore.
