I carried an M4 and a M9 for years in combat (54 months total), I cannot even start to tell you the shear amount of negligent discharges I witnessed, conducted investigations on and heard about. I fully support the law we the people voted for and that the Governor signed into law, but training can never stop. A 9mm in your car door is useless unless you can actually get to it in a timely manner, a glock on your hip is only as good as you are at getting it out and presenting it on target proficiently.
I lost a great man in 2004 in Iraq, after a very successful raid he hopped into the front passenger seat of his truck and one of his Soldiers hopped into the back seat directly behind him, the Soldier's M4 was not on safe and the Soldier accidentally shot his leader in the back of the head killing him instantly. How many times have we beat into each other the safety rules of weapons? How many thousand times over the course of a deployment do we preach muzzle awareness and safety? No matter how good you are, if you are not consistently training to utilize your designated carry weapon then there is a greater probability of error should the need arise to deploy your weapon.
How many folks have you seen that can draw their firearm from the holster proficiently and present the weapon on target yet when it is time to re-holster cannot safely get it back in there due to lack of training? Constitutional carry is a right, the obligation to be trained and proficient is our duty.

Unless he starts spraying bullets around and striking innocent bystanders.

Spraying bullets around requires an automatic - AKA machinegun - which is unlikely to be there unless the perpetrator has brought one. The good guy with a gun will only be able to fire off one round at a time. Being absurd will not help your cause.

Our ability to BE trained and proficient with arms is precisely why our right to keep and bear them is protected by the Constitution. All I would add to that is that we have some catching up to do after having been hamstrung for so long.

I wonder if the Las Vegas shooter knew that? His was semi-automatic, but I doubt that he was really doing "aimed" fire.

You seem intent on arguing from the uninformed side of things. I can spray bullets around faster with a semi auto than you can type incorrect posts.
