Depends on where your beef comes from. Beef from the grocery store...not so much. My brother and I split my niece’s show steer last spring, and it’s the best meat I’ve ever eaten hands down. That’s the main reason I’m not killing any does this year. I’ve still got beef in the freezer and am saving freezer space for another half of a show steer in March.:thumb:

Yes fed out and pampered is the only way to go. Today was big time disappointing compared to yesterday, the heat shut down day time activity I'm thinking. The only deer we eat is ground up with beef fat, we grind up 3 or 4 a year like that.

I was thinking that if I get a deer this year I would get some of it ground with fat for chili meat and have some made into summer sausage.

Killed a 4 footer last Monday down the road from the house. Guees he was try to get warmed up on the road.

A few years back during black powder season, I was hunting from the ground and had one slither right up to my feet. It was a warm day but not what you want to happen while deer hunting.

I hunted eastern Oklahoma yesterday and it was completely different from NW. Bucks weren’t chasing and kept the does off the corn for themselves. Headed back northwest tomorrow. Mature buck pics all nocturnal still.
