I don't wish anyone close interactions with the legal system, but some people crave it more than others. In this case you're basing what you believe our reactions should be, on what the world should be rather than what it is. There are plenty of places in the world where a slung AK doesn't raise so much as an eyebrow. Those happen to be all the places most of us are glad we don't call home. If I can get that then I can get why soccer moms would associate slung rifles with those places.

It really is that simple.

Name a place where good free men, not representatives of the state, carry rifles.

Here, we should carry them as free men.

It really is that simple.

Where? Right here in Oklahoma. With the exception of a few narrow carve outs, you are free to carry a rifle wherever you want.

Most of us want to live in a civil and lawful society (especially those of us who have carried long guns for blood and money in the darker places on this planet). Part of a civil society requires knowledge of and adherence to the law. The law in this case, as written/passed/signed by our representatives in government, says you can’t carry into a place that serves booze. It’s not boot licking to expect our fellow citizens to adhere to the law. All of it. Not just the parts they agree with.

While I totally agree that the guy wasn't real smart and did gun owners no favors, I am not real sure as reported by the media he did in fact commit the crime he got arrested for. The citation in post #57 (as I read it) would seem to indicate if he went to a restaurant that it's primary business model is serving food then IF he had a CC permit that would not be a crime by carrying as I read the OSCN citation. What do you folks think??

CC permit is for pistols only. I'm not sure what type of weapon he had but I believe it to be a rifle. Havn't bothered to go back and view the various videos.

As SMS has pointed out, he broke the law carrying a rifle into a business where alcohol is consumed. Why is that so hard to understand?

"The law" isn't the arbiter of morality, reasonableness, right/wrong, good/evil or anything else. The law is often a hindrance to these.

You're not the only one to have carried for blood and money in dark places, but nice logical "appeal to authority".

You mean to tell me he had the ballsack-size to carry an actual weapon in the vicinity of a homo sapiens who happened to be in the act of ingesting ethanol? It's boot licking to acquiesce to ridiculous laws, or to ridicule those free men who refuse to acquiesce. I'm speaking philosophically about the law, not to any particular act by this fella. I wasn't there so I have no idea what the gentleman in question did or did not do with his slung weapon. I do not stipulate that he broke any law. It seems clear he didn't shoot anyone.

The state needs (in fact, could not survive without) men like you who feel, "well gee, it's the law so I'm gonna follow it". How else, other than law requiring it, would all of those escaped slaves have been returned to their lawful masters? Being the law, it MUST have been the moral thing to do.

It would be immoral to follow "all of it".

Bravo to you brave sir. Thumbing your nose at the state.

Do you have a driver’s license? A carry permit? Do you tag your car? Do you fill out a 4473 when you buy a gun?

When shall we see you follow in Harper’s footsteps and carry into Twin Peaks? Why not today? What are you waiting for? He needs solidarity and companionship in his struggle against “the man”.

Put your money and liberty where your keyboard is. I dare you.
