Have an M11A1 that went back to Sig for the action tune they offer. So nice now the DA is 8 pounds and rolls like a Colt Python. Also have the Legion P229 and have to say prefer the M11A1 as carry gun
If your going to shoot someone at least do it with a little class.Blah
Too heavy and over engineered
The design is executed flawlessly and the quality is great. Just never thought the recipient of my bullets was affected by anything but the end result of getting shot
My considerably well-researched reading/study shows me that The P228 had a folded carbon steel slide and the P229 blackened stainless slide is forged to allow for the more powerful .40 and .357. The M11-A1 arose from the original M11, which was basically a 9mm P228. The M11- A1 is now categorized as a P229, and is on Sig's website as such. But, at least initially, Sig slapped P228 grips on it to acknowledge it's history, as the P228. AFAIK, they are still putting P228 grips on the A1 which as said above is really just a P229 but with a few "improvements". Confused yet? The A1 comes stock with Sig Night Sights and the Short Reset Trigger (SRT) and a fancy UID label so it makes you think it looks purty cool; like you're kinda all official and stuff. The labels sometimes comes off with cleaning; mine is still stuck on there but a few more passes with Hoppes or something and it will probably fall off. You can get stainless ones made to glue on there if you want...I won't bother. Oh yeah, the M11-A1 also has phosphate coated (parkerized) internals.
The M11-A1 is therefore basically a dressed up P229 with a fancy UID label, Sig NS, SRT, phosphated innards, and P228 grips (replaced mine with Hogue G10 because thinner). It one of many P229 variations listed in Sig's online catalog as such. And it sure is a darn good pistol.
Well said! The M11-A1 uses the new 229-1 mags too. I love mine. I had to do a few mods to fit my small hands. Threw a set of Sig Aluminum grips, Legion/Gray Guns adjustable trigger and a P224 slide stop lever.

Not true! I just base my preferences on the least amount of negatives, not the most amount of positives.Nothing wrong with a G19; I just like the M11-A1 a bit better. Sure, it's a little heavier, and a little more expensive. But I like it a little better too. And @Gunbuffer gonna dis what ever anyway, you know? Choices are a good thing.
