I finally scoped my old '67 Ruger .44 Carbine I bought at a gun show years ago. I threw an old 70s Weaver V4.5-II scope on it in some Weaver rings to kind of keep it period. I have only had it on the range once but it seems to shoot pretty good.

That said it'll be hard not to take my No. 1 in .35 Whelen with modern glass on opening day because I have built confidence in it over the last few years. Both are going to camp and I just threw shells for both in my backpack.

I was curious if anyone will be trying to use a 9mm pistol?

I think I will probably use my Ruger American Ranch 7.62x39 or my 44 Mag Raging Bull.
A young man will be using my 9mm PCC rifle trying to take his first deer.
Depending on the location there could be the .243 WSSM or the Ruger .44 mag carbine with red dot.
As always there will be a Ruger Super Redhawk on the hip for close shots if possible.

That’s absolutely great you’re getting to hunt with your Dad, but what’s your son going to hunt with?!?

He's got a date that night we're leaving, so he'll be hunting something else entirely :laugh6:

By the way retrieverman, I'm going to finally shoot those .270 handloads you gave me. That would be awesome if my dad could shoot his first deer with your handloads!
