I have a Mr. heater big maxx propane heater in my shop. They have a known problem with the small fitting that connects the air hose to the pressure switch that makes sure the exhaust fan is running and the chimney isn't blocked before it will light. You have to take the hose off and stick a wire into the fitting to clean it out then it will be fine again for a while. Problem is it happens far too often and I am thinking must be some way to fix the durn thing permanently.

I'm really tempted to just stick a 110VAC relay on the motor leads and bypass that durn pressure switch all together. But that would defeat a safety and the safety police might take me to jail. Anyone ever dealt with something like this, any ideas?

I have to keep my shop above freezing for the plumbing and have set up my shop computer with a system that will send me an email if the temperature drops below 50. It just told me the heater isn't working again. Thermostat is set at 50 and it reported 47, not a big deal now but could be when it's -2.

Dang, that is a problem.,,,
Your post title had me scared there for a moment.

I have a radiant 20,000 BTU Mr. Heater in my mobile home,,,
But it's a vent-less model running on natural gas.

So far the thing has run flawlessly,,,
On that 15 degree night last month it kept the mobile toasty warm.

Have you contacted their support line yet?

I hope you find a solution for the problem.

I have a 250,000 btu heater i need to sell. $250 and your problem is fixed. It has a thermostat too

Thanks but my heater is only a year old and not ready to replace it just yet. Other than the issue above it works great. Only takes about a minute to fix just a PTA having to go out to the shop when the weather is bad.

Depending on design that draft motor is what keeps the flame inside the exchanger. If it failed and the flame was still going you could burn down the building.
