Per The Oklahoman......beginning Dec. 2nd the public can leave comments on the agency's new hunting and fishing proposals at wildlifedepartment.com and public hearings on the new 2020 proposals will be held in OKC and Broken Bow on Jan. 2nd, 2020

Broken Bow? Don’t they hunt with a rifle all season anyway?

Broken Bow? Just my opinion of course, that part of the state will always favor any lengthening of season or increase in limits and also has the greatest influence of nonresident deer hunters...................why not have one in each corner of the state? Woodward, Tulsa, McAlester and Lawton, then one final one in OKC and compare notes and listen final comments from the public?

I’m in southeast Oklahoma just not as southeast as McCurtain County.
I think the popular opinion in the past would have been to extend the season but people have been getting overrun with nonresidents from Texas.
I’m normally in the Broken Bow area 2-3 times a week and have heard numerous stories of people losing leases because their pockets aren’t deep enough.
I may be in the minority down here but I think people aren’t as open minded to extending gun season as they used to be.

Someone here mentioned if they are going to lengthen gun season, to run it from Dec 1 to Dec 31. That would take rifle out of the rut and still give plenty of time to be in the field.
Perfect for duck hunters too that would love to rifle hunt during the split.
I'm not for lengthening it, but if they really insisted on it I might get behind that.

Removing rifle from Thanksgiving week would causes riots in the ODWC parking lot..........but yes I'm all for rifle season after November. Wouldn't be popular but I'd go for no gun of any kind before December other than youth rifle. If they want to actually have a primitive MZL week during late October like it is now fine, flint and cap, but the way it is now it's like two guns seasons already. Any thing I mentioned above would hurt the outfitters and guides so it won't happen anyway.
