My boy got a nice buck on opening morning of rifle but took him with a crossbow. The deer have been moving like crazy. I switched stands that morning because I really wanted to hunt the stand he was going to be in and man am I glad I did. I would have been happy to harvest that buck but it’s so much better my son got to do it.

Great buck pass on the congrats!!

You speak the truth, RM. That's what happens when you don't make your chances count though.

Good friend and college buddy called me. His son wanted to hunt. I got them set up with a popup, orange, guns, corn, camera etc. They shoot but don’t hunt. They lost all the family rifles in a burglary last year. best of luck to them

Update! Gleason got his first deer this morning! I’m pumped to be a part of it.

Time to change it up...

It seems the deer movement has changed so I am trying something they wouldn't expect. Instead of sitting in one of my stands, I decided to sit on my turkey hunting stool on top of an old loafing shed. I can see everything for 400 yds to my left, sporadic breaks in the creek bottom in front of me, and 200 yds to my right. This big elm has low branches resting on the rooftop, so it makes a pretty decent blind. I don't know if this is the right move or not, but you won't know if you never try.
