What will they construct them of then? Hemp or bamboo turbin's? Alternators have to be built of what? Transmission wires and insulation out of what?
It's currently impossible to eliminate the carbon footprint of the green energy now or in the future. If one wants to go back to the wooden water wheel or the windmills of old that had generators for electricity production using no nails and you want to live in a world of 12 volt lighting and wood burning stoves that requires carbon footprint to produce the wire and the glass in the oil fired lamps, no AC and wood burning heat, your screwed. It will never get to total green energy. You can call fudd but in reality, all of that relies on technology that creates carbon footprint in its inception and its duration.
There is absolutely nothing that can be called totally green other than a teepee with a wood fire in the middle of it.
Are you ready for that?

No, Dennis, no! The wood fire will produce CO2 and ash! You'll need to cuddle up with your squaw (or brave) and your dogs to stay warm! (Cooking will be a problem, though....)

Sounds like a fitting epitaph. :lmfao:

Lol. The greenies are too stupid to realize that they are going to need a lot more coal, petroleum and gas to even produce the things they think are saving the planet with, like say, wind turbines.

I think they miss the point that gargantuan amounts of hydrocarbons are used to mine metallic ores to produce metals. More are used to transport them to a smelter. More are used to power the furnaces at the smelter. More to transport the metals to the wholesaler. More from the wholesaler to the manufacturing plant which uses ton more in coal and gas fueled electricity to make machined components. More to haul the components to the end manufacturer.

Then there are the resins used to produce blades, nacelle and mast. Those come from petroleum too. They have to be processed, transported, etc.

Then there are the cranes and heavy equipment to erect them. They have to manufacture and fuel those too.

Ditto for literally everything we use in our lives, from the wiring in our house and that mystical electrical grid all the way down to the bowl we eat cereal out of in the morning. Eliminating hydrocarbon production and usage is simply a pipe dream.

My roof with solar begs to differ. Once the Cybertruck arrives in 2021 I will let you know how much actual cost of ownership vs. amortization or depreciation is concerned. The reality is though, its up to you to if it math's or not.

The state actually subsidizes oil and gas through low tax rates, isn't that one of the paramount arguments people have with that industry in this state? Is that they are essentially subsidized through the state? How is that any different from cleaner and greener sources?

For my own peace of mind, after being in the oil and gas industry and experiencing it's boom's and bust's, I am putting my money where my mouth is and funding the alternative, as ANYTHING is better than subsidized oil and gas exploration companies that go out and take billions in loans to drill and then come up dry, claim bankruptcy close up shop and then turn around make new companies to do it again, just my two cents.

Pretty sure last I checked Chesapeake was in danger of bankruptcy and their stock was sub $0.75 cents. From a peak of $66 to sub $0.70 cents. Yea that industry is going places...

You sound like a laid off O&G employee with an axe to grind. The O&G companies being subsidized has come up a couple of times now. For everybody's information, every Tom, Dick and Harry is a benefactor of those "subsidies" through lower electricity costs. What do you think generates said electricity? Last I heard the electric utilities were forced to charge their customers for electricity (and NG too for that matter) at their cost. They make their money by providing the service. So Zombie, be sure to include that lower cost in your breakdown analysis. :thumb:

The biggest beneficiaries though are those preferred stock owners. Selling Chesapeake at $50 would have been CHOICE especially a few million shares. What is that worth today......$0.76 cents.

Totally not a fleece....
