I’m hoping the wind lays down in the last hour. I’ll be climbing into a box blind in about an hour. Cell cam showed they moved just before shooting time last night

Damned feeder went off about 14 minutes ago and I nearly TEMPORARILY warmed my britches, though.

Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk

I'd never hunted around a feeder till a buddy of mine from Tex. invited me down to hunt his lease several years ago, I was about 75 yds. from it when it went off and I damn near warmed my britches also......oh, the first to arrive at the sound of the feeder going off was two really big fat raccoons that suddenly materialized from nowhere out of the cactus and mesquite.

Here in Okla. I was walking to my stand early one morning at dark thirty through some shin high grass and I flushed a covey of quail no more than 3' in front of me........it's been awhile but I think I may have actually suffered a mild heart attack and dribbled in my long johns that time.

Son, guide from OYHP and myself were outside the blind after sunset, packing up and moving out. Jumped four deer 15 feet from our stand. Another 50 yards we jumped a bunch of hogs, that one soiled my britches a little and my heart about stopped.

Reminded me of the pastor that was out with Colt McCoy

So I gave it up. Just got home. Nice and toasty now but didn't see a damned thing again today. I'm now officially 0 for 2 days out this year.

Next weekend I have a couple days, I gotta make the best of it, or else learn to use my bow. lol

So I had to track down my blind this morning when I got there. Actually glad I didn't go in before dawn, I woulda been pissed trying to find and reset that damned thing before dawn in the cold and wind. I am sure it was that freak storm last Tuesday that had the 60MPH gusts. The tie down ropes were broken and the stakes were mostly GONE. they were the cheap plain jane steel ones that came with the blind. I already have a bag of a bunch of good ones, but I forgot them. On Friday I'ma try to go out mid afternoon and take some real rope and better stakes and get it good and set SOLID for the final weekend. Then be back for the real dawn watch on Saturday and maybe Sunday.
