Sounds like Boeing in Wichita every year. This time the whole building is shut down. Abandoned I hear. If I was in a job placement service I'd be camped out in their parking lot.

Not quite 5 years ago, my wife's job was a victim of Obama policies and sent overseas. Three weeks before Christmas.
She was working from home, and the Company cut her computer access first, before telling her she was out of a job. I remember her coming out of her office, saying her password didn't work. I told her she had just been fired, she thought I was joking.

She found another job within a month or so, at a 40% pay reduction.

Bad news for sure. Oil and gas industry in Oklahoma is hurting. E&P companies as well as service companies here in Tulsa as well as OKC have been experiencing layoffs as well.
Public perception (as well as sustained low commodity prices) is changing the face of this industry for all of Oklahoma.

That’s what we do. My level of access could bring the campus down if I went stupid. I completely understand why they kill access before termination. The joke is refresh your email, if it works you still have a job. If it doesn’t, go fishing.

800 jobs is a shocker man. 800 people that could possibly have utilities turned off, stuff repo’d. Not to mention the stress of what they are going to do.

My understanding is they've offered positions to most of these laid off folks at their Duncan facility. So if they want a job they have to go where the jobs are. These types of realignments happen during every oil boom and bust cycle. El Reno loses, Duncan gains.

I don’t work there, but this hits me in many tens of 1,000’s in sales. So, personally affected but not near as bad. I feel terrible for those guys. What a quick, hard decision to close that yard. Especially after many, many millions getting it running. Especially after it got wrecked during construction by the tornado.

The Duncan plant isn’t running at capacity either. They’ve had slow days and restricted work schedules.

What’s killing me is that the price of oil isn’t that bad. Sure, it’s not great but it’s not in the 30’s either for WTI. I’m wondering if the ‘forecasters’ are predicting worse or continued softening?

Sucks, but a few skirmishes, bombs or world events and all the oil men are back to work.
