I've done a little more "investigation". Rifle is as short as 33". Box is 35.5x33x29, according to Amazon, so it may be possible the rifle fit inside the box, possible diagonaly

Indeed,...I would have kept my mouth shut. Why tell the world. Like those people that find a gold treasure, tell everyone...and here comes Gov.com, lawyers, and the Kings armed men .....demanding their share, or to give back to the owner, who died hundreds of years ago.
The gun was a piece of crap someone stored in the box. There wasn't even a baby device inside.
